Earth Day 2012: Our Forest's Future Depends on Us

Cincinnati Nature Center staff surveying ash treesThis Earth Day we are asking for your understanding and support as we deal with the serious threat posed to Cincinnati Nature Center's forests by the emerald ash borer.

The ash borer attacks all species of ash trees and has spread rapidly throughout the forests of Ohio. Once infested, a mature ash tree will die within three to five years. It is estimated that more than 10,000 ash trees at CNC will be affected. For more information on EAB, click here.

You can help.

Because of the seriousness of this issue, we are asking all members to consider an Earth Day gift to our forests. Additional funds will be needed to support ecological management of this infestation, along with the restorative efforts and the replanting of new trees.

Despite the enormity of this threat to our land, we are confident that with proactive management, we will continue to have a healthy forest at CNC for future generations to enjoy. Please consider a gift today.
